MILAN, March 9 (Reuters) – Vodafone VOD.L is trying to reduce about 1,000 jobs in Italy as half of a bigger price saving plan the telecoms big is pursuing to revamp its operations, two union officers instructed Reuters.
The figures emerged after an inner assembly between unions and firm representatives in Italy on Thursday.
As of final March, Vodafone’s workforce in Italy totalled 5,765 workers, in line with the group’s newest annual report.
A negotiation course of with unions is anticipated to kick off within the coming weeks, the officers mentioned.
Vodafone’s deliberate jobs cuts are targeted specifically on buyer care operations, one of many officers added.
Vodafone had no fast remark.
Like different operators in Italy, Vodafone has been grappling for years with a difficult market, characterised by aggressive worth competitors which has eroded earnings.
